1. Pixie Cut

Short choppy hair ideas are a thin-haired girl’s best friend! If you’re feeling fed up with your fine locks, try out a choppy pixie cut. While the length might take some adjustment, asking your stylist to add in some longer layers around your face will help to add a feminine touch to this androgynous style. For styling your new look, use a workable hair wax that can add some serious depth and definition to your new choppy mane.

2. Graduated Bob

It’s a myth that those with thick hair can’t rock a choppy short hair look. The graduated bob is a great way to reduce the natural heaviness of your locks! The hair at the nape of the neck is clipped super short – or even shaved – and cut at an angle. With this look you benefit from the weightlessness of a shorter crop, while also maintaining a flattering length around your jawline. For smoothness, apply some of the Suave Professionals Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Oil Treatment to your hair to smooth out any frizz or flyaways.

3. Asymmetric Bob

While the bob is definitely up there as one of the most popular feathered hairstyles, sometimes this look can be borderline dull. If you’re looking for something a bit more out-of-the-box, try a trendy asymmetrical bob! This two-toned haircut is all about depth as it adds some sophisticated vibes to your style.

A shoulder-skimming style is a great way to test out this look while still retaining some length. And it’s pretty versatile in the hairstyling department where you can opt for straight hair or these cool waves. To achieve this look, spritz some of the Suave Professionals Texurizing Sea Salt Sprayonto your damp or dry strands, scrunch your fingers as you lift your hair. Hello, undone movement!

How to Hold Onto Choppy Hairstyles

1. Trim Your Hair Regularly

Choppy short hairstyles need a set of well-kept layers as well as a head of hair that’s full of volume and texture in order for the style to thrive. When getting your bi-weekly or monthly trims, be sure you’re getting at least one-inch of your layers trimmed, or else they’ll grow out looking unkempt. Regular trims will also help keep split ends at bay, which can have your layers looking extremely rough and make them hard to deal with when styling your hair.

2. Daily Hair Maintenance

On the days your hair may need a pick-me-up, use a curling wand or hot rollers to revive and accentuate curls, create waves or add body. You can also opt for using a diffuser attachment on the ends of wet hair: Apply a heat protectant, position the diffuser at the very ends of your hair and direct it towards the mid-length. Dry your hair using a diffuser in sections all around your hair. In between washing use a dry shampoo, like the TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo to handle any greasy or oiliness, if you don’t the greasy feeling and appearance will also just weigh your style down. And lucky you, frizz just may work in your favor! A little frizz can liven your hairstyle, giving your ’do extra volume and shape. Embrace those hot summer days with open arms!

3. Weekly Maintenance

Along with getting your scheduled trims, you’ll need to have a trusty hair care routine in place. The choppy texture of your hair needs to be kept fresh and well taken care of. Shampoo and condition your hair with a hair care line like TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Reverse Wash System as this line can leave your hair with bounce, full of body, and touchable locks. Wash hair with the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner followed by TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo to remove excess conditioner.

4. Switch Up Your Styling

You probably don’t want to wear your hair down every day. That’s totally fine; we all love to throw our hair in a bun or add some curls to our look on some occasions. And thankfully, your style is extremely versatile! Opt for hairstyles that work with your layers and can benefit from the texture of your wispy hairstyle. Try a braided hairstyle that you can wear during the day, and when it’s time to remove them, your tresses are instantly extra defined and full of texture. Great transitional style, right?
